You are here: Welcome to the Center > General Wellness and Healthy Heart Wellness - 365 days a year - is more than the absence of disease. Wellness involves the whole person and the interaction of his or her mind and body. When illness occurs it may be treated, but prevention of illness is often the more effective road to total health. The path to health is a personal journey, defined by your own goals, philosophy and commitment. The providers at the Center can act as guides. At the Center for Integrative Medicine we combine the best of the science of Western Medicine with the tradition of complementary healing modalities. Upon entering the General Wellness/Healthy heart program, the individual will complete a comprehensive questionnaire that addresses medical issues along with lifestyle, stress and emotional factors, diet and nutrition, and awareness and experience with complementary medicine. In consultation with the Wellness Case Manager, a current health profile will be established and goals for enhanced health will be set. An integrative wellness plan will then be developed. These tools can help you fine tune your diet, weight, exercise plan, or help you with smoking cessation or alcohol or drug use, while enhancing your overall wellness. For the individual who is generally healthy but needs special attention to a particular chronic complaint, for example, headaches, chronic fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, or others, the plan will place emphasis on modalities and lifestyle changes that may offer long-term relief. Over time, as the participant carries out the integrative care plan, consultations will be held with the Case Manager to reassess health status, modify treatments as needed, and measure accomplishment of health goals. The objective will be a lifetime program of optimal health and wellbeing. |
